My New London Flat

This post is about my new flat, which is just outside of Camden Town. My flatmates and I fell in love with it as soon as we saw it, although it is falling down slightly, and the stairs are all rickety! It's a real old-fashioned townhouse, and we have the top flat - no bad for second year students! My parents and I spent ages doing it up/decorating it, so I thought I'd do a quick blog post to show you around the basics of my new room (and sorry for bad quality photographs!)

Bedside Table

I love my bedside table, I got the alarm clock from IKEA, thinking the round shape was a must-have look from the '60s.

A couple of books I keep constantly on said table. An issue from 'Elvis Monthly' and the inspiration for this blog - 'Psychedelic Renegades: Photos of Syd Barrett' by Mick Rock

One of my favourite dresses in the whole world, which I got from an online shop called violethouse. The clothes take inspiration from the '60s and are so fantastic! I had to hang this dress on my wall!

Jewellery Table/ Record Deck

My record collection and jewellery, along with a Moroccan teapot
Many of these pieces I acquired really cheap, likely from Camden market, although I did pick up some whilst travelling or from high-street shops (the hoops are from Urban Outfitters)
Sometimes I refer to this part of my room as the 'David Bowie shrine,' due to the framed Bowie picture I stole off my dad

Wall Decorations

Andy Warhol and Pamela Des Barres

Trusty Jim Morrison poster, which I have had for YEARS. This is actually a material poster, from what I remember it was a bit more expensive than the paper ones but gives such a nice wall-hanging/tapestry feel

  1. Really loving your room and the 60's vibes it exudes. Groovy dress on the wall and that nifty little alarm clock does look very 60's. I've got that same Syd Barrett book, and I love that you've got Jim hanging on the wall as well!
